Tommy Gate is a premier brand of private, commercial and industrial hydraulic lifts. Established in Woodbine, IA in 1964, Tommy Gate’s strong reputation for quality has been built through a strict adherence to the highest standards of engineering, craftsmanship and customer service.
Tommy Gate approached us to help them with the launch of their newest product - the Tuckunder, ushering in a whole new product line to the Tommy Gate family of lift gates. The main goal was to create a video sales tool that portrayed the development of the Tuckunder Series but also communicated the history, quality, and craftsmanship behind the brand.
Tommy Gate uses a mix of old and new production techniques; whatever is best for a given situation. If the final product will benefit from some technological advancement, then so be it. But if a skilled craftsman with a mallet - or a hand-held grinder, torch, welder, etc. - who has been doing something for 30 years is going to produce more quality, then that’s the way it’s going to be done. No compromises.
From start to finish, Joe and his team were remarkably attuned to our needs. They took our ideas, comments, products and facilities, and crafted a story that we are extremely proud to showcase. Steller Park displays a rare combination of professionalism and bold creativity, and we could not be happier with the result.

You can spend days in the plant and not run out of interesting things to look at. Stuff rarely gets moved around, so you’ve got tables and racks and wrenches that have literally been in the same spot since the 60’s. That said, nothing is superfluous to the tasks at hand. There’s not much room for nostalgia... Yes, Bus Brown’s workbench is still in the same spot it’s been in for 50 years. But those wrenches and hammers hanging off of it get used daily. And if they didn’t, then they’d be moved the hell out of the way to make room for something that would be.
